Munro Transport, says he was detained for 12 hours while his vehicle was searched by Customs officers at a southern port in March. He was offered no refreshments, he says, and claims that after the search two pallets of the onions he was delivering were missing and the rest of the load was ruined. The company was charged £180 for reloading by stevedores: damage to the load cost £500. Allen Munro says its own and subcontractors' vehicles have been searched three times in recent weeks at the port.
