CIT Oxford conference

• The annual week-end conference of the Chartered Institute of Transport will be held at New College, Oxford, from 7.15 pm (dinner) Friday, September 22 to 3.30 pm (tea) on Sunday, September 24. The theme is: "Transport — decision point of professional minds."

Vehicle security seminar

PDM at Brussels

• The third in a series of International Physical Distribution Management conferences titled "The Role of Logistics in the Total Management Concept" has been arranged for November 22 to 24 at the Europa Hotel, Brussels.

This conference, organized by Management Centre Europe is sponsored by the journals of International Business Press Associates involved in PDM, including, in the UK, Freight Management. Business and Industrial Training, the IPC conference company, provides the link between MCE and IBPA.

Transport studies in London

• The University of London has publishe details of its transport studies courses for th 1972/1973 session.

Courses provided include the University' Certificate and Diploma in Transport Studie for which there are no specific admissio requirements except that those applyin should be persons with prior academi or professional qualifications. Th certificate may be taken as a twoor a three year course with the Diploma to be take as a one-year post-certificate course.

Among the subjects to be covered durin the session, which are detailed in a bookie available from the University's Departmen of Extra Mural Studies, 7 Ridgemount Street London WC lE 7AD, are transport econo mics, transport and economic geography studies in contemporary transport researcl in transport, urban land studies and scien tific methods applied to transport.

A series of short transport courses arc to be held, three of which are concerned witt railways and a number of weekend and field study courses are planned.

VAT and transport

• A one-day seminar on VAT in road transport, aimed especially at finance directors, accountants and accounts supervisors, is being held in four cities on five occasions this year — Birmingham Sept 26, Newcastle upon Tyne Oct 5. Manchester Oct 12, London Oct 26 and Nov 9.
