Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE regulations affecting the maxi' mum dimensions of public service vehicles, and controlling the use in motion of excess fuel devices, were laid before Parliament last week. They are amendments to the Construction and Use Regulations, and are contained in the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment) Regulations, 1961.

From next Tuesday p.s.v.s can have box dimensions of up to 36 ft. by 8 ft 21 in. The maximum turning circle of 71 ft. is not to be changed, but increased overhang is to be permitted in separate regulation's. The Minister has warned operators that if longer p.s.v.s cause congestion in central London, they may be restricted. He also states that Traffic Commissioners have the power to limit the use of 36-ft.-long vehicles "for regular services on particular routes."

The same regulations provide that, after January 1 next, it will be an offence to use the excess fuel device while the vehicle is in motion. The device and its means of control "must be fitted so that it cannot readily be used by anyone in the vehicle, whether the driver or anyone else."

Provision has, however, been made for devices which require simultaneous operation of other controls in the cab. These controls will be legal, so long as the device is automatically shut off once the engine has started.

It will also be an offence for the excess fuel device controls to be fitted in the cab after January 1 next. Controls on existing vehicles must be removed from the cab, or adapted to shut off the fuel automatically, by July 1, 1962.

Under One Roof THE complete London sales organization of the John Thompson Group of companies, which includes Thompson Bros. (Bilston), Ltd., and Darham Industries, Ltd., has now been centralized in a new building in Woburn Walk, Duke's Road, off Tavistock Square, London, W.C.1.

At a reception last week in the new offices, Mr. Airey Neave, a director of the Group, said the move would lead to • greater co-ordination and added efficiency in London.

New developments were being explored and certain new companies and divisions were being formed.

Wolverhampton remains the head office of the Group.
