Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

riERTATN regulations appertaining to the use of compressed-gas cylinders for the propulsion of vehicles by this fuel, or for the transport of ga,ses by road, have just been issued, and can be obtained from His Majesty's Stationery Office, Adastral House, Kingsway, London, NV.C.2 [Compressed Gas Cylinders (Fuel for Motor Vehicles) Provisional Regulations, 1933].

The gases to which they apply are • coal-gas, carbon monoxide, hydrogen and methane. The material, construction, treatment, marking and testing of the cylinders are dealt with in detail. The last-named item includes separate tensile, impact, flattening, beading, hydraulic-stretch and hydraulic-des

truction tests. Under hydraulic tests it is stipulated that one cylinder in every, hundred must be subjected by its maker to a pressure of 6,600 lb. per sq. in. If there be fewer than 100, then one in each batch must be tested.

The regulations proceed to state that the valves and fittings for the connection of the pipe-line to the cylinder shall be of forged steel and shall have left-handed threads at the point of connection with the piping ; that the cylinders shall have fusible plugs or bursting discs, designed to melt or shear at 150 degrees C. or 4,500 lb. per sq. in. respectively, and that gas shall not be stored in these cylinders at pressures over 3,000 lb. per sq. in. Further

more, it is stipulated that no cylinder shall be charged unless it has been subjected to a specified hydraulic test during the preceding 12 months, after which test it shall have been permanently marked with the date and the identification of the tester ; that a table shall be affixed to the vehicle showing the cylinder maker, the rotation number of each cylinder, its water capacity, and the dates of its manufacture and last test, and that no cylinder shall be used for more than five years from its date of manufacture. In addition, each cylinder shalt carry the words "For gas propulsion only, working pressure 3,000 lb. per square inch," and its water capacity in cubic feet.
