Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Four regional used truck centres are to be set up by Renault Truck Commercials, Renault VI's group of wholly-owned dealerships in the UK. `Well be opening the first one during the first quarter of this year," says managing director Daniel Mercier. "The second later in the year, and the other two should open in 2000". All will be at RTC dealerships so they can benefit from shared overheads and hold down costs. The company already has a large used trucks outlet at Renault VI in Dunstable which forms part of Renault Trucks Chiltern.

RTC has also opened a dealership close to Felixstowe docks as part of improvements to aftersales representation. It operates as an extension to Thurrock-based Renault Trucks Essex and has a four-bay workshop, a parts department, and a resident salesman.

'We're planning to set up three to five more service and parts sites, and we particularly want to improve coverage in the West Country and to the north of Milton Keynes," Mercier says.

RTC is prepared to appoint independent firms to provide aftersales care, he adds: "We're in the process of doing so in Southampton." 1998 saw RTC's sales volumes rise by a hefty 57%, from 855 vehicles in 1997 to 1,342. The firm has a £75m annual turnover from 13 UK sites and one Irish site. Mercier is not predicting a further major expansion in RTC volumes in 1999.

Renault Trucks Chiltern at Dunstable is helping the aftersales push by opening its workshops round the clock.

And Renault Trucks Birmingham, now has Ron Ball as director and general manager.
