• St Helens Borough Council has added four new ERE EC rigid waste collection vehicles to its refuse fleet and in a bid to cut whole life maintenance costs, all have Allison automatic gearboxes. Two are EC8 280hp (208kW) 26 tonne 6x4s with Norba wheeliebin collection bodies; the other pair of EC11 340hp (253kW) 32 tonne eightleggers with Jack Allen
equipment are for heavier-duty industrial collections and working on landfill sites.
