Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Maritime Haulage has merged with Port of Felixstowe Transport to form a fleet of almost 140 trucks.

The new firm, trading as Maritime Haulage, runs 24 vehicles from Port of Felixstowe Transport, as well as 112 trucks from the original Maritime Haulage. About 100 extra vehicles are subcontracting for the new operation. Both companies will retain their individual identities and liveries for the foreseeable future.

Maritime Haulage vehicles will operate from Thamesport, Felixstowe, Manchester, Southampton, Rainham and Leeds; the company will move its East Anglian base from Ipswich to a five-acre site within Felixstowe Port.

A spokesman says no jobs will be lost as a result of the merger. Maritime Haulage currently employs 150 drivers; the number of subcontractors is likely to increase from 100 to 120. Maritime Haulage and Port of Felixstowe Transport will keep identities.
