• A driver who claimed he was a victim of a pre-Christmas hijacking, in which £100,000 of whisky was stolen, has been arrested and charged with the theft of the load and truck.

Colin Andrew Searle, who worked for Sanmar Haulage of Wakefield, West Yorks, will appear bef re Huntingdon Magistrates oi 3 February. He is one of four s spects who have been charged vith the theft and released on bail.

The incide , which allegedly took place at BP's truckstop in Alconbury, Cambs, on 4 December, is one of two on the site that were repo ed to the police in the run-up to christmas (CM 31 Dec-6 Jan).

In an unrela ed case police are investigating hijacking at the site, which t ok place on 15 December. In this case £15,000 worth of Ho oint appliances went missin from a truck belonging to CB (Storage) of Batley.
