Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NEW six-point insurance plan for international hauliers has been announced by the RAC to complement its existing carnets service.

The plan covers such items as legal expenses, insurance ap to £10,000 for a single claim, and another £10,000 for bail.

An RAC spokesman said the scheme, which covers all liabiiity under the convention on the contract (CMR) of interaational goods by road, will be available for drivers and companies going to Europe and the Middle East.

Under the scheme, fully 2omprehensive vehicle insurance or third party cover on an annual basis for all countries where the Green Card is effective is available.

Unlimited indemnity

There is an unlimited indemnity against third party personal injuries and £100,000 property damage cover. The over also extends to the loss DI damage of tractive units and trailers while they are on Doard ship.

For Middle East runs there is an extension to the standard vehicle insurance for Green Card countries which gives E50,000 cover against personal injury and property damage in all or part of the Middle East.

Medical expenses

Injury to a driver or illness is also covered allowing medical expenses to be covered up to £2,000. Personal accident benefits are available up to E1,000 which includes death and partial or total disablement, resulting from injury at work. • The RAC has pointed out that this will include any injuries caused during a hijack af the vehicles.

Insurance will cover the return to this country of a driver and his replacement costs if he is found to be ill or is injured. £1,000 is provided for the repatriation of the injured driver and another £500 for another driver to be sent out.

A driver may also return if his wife, fiancee, business partner or close relative dies.

The scheme also covers the provision of bail bonds for drivers arrested abroad up to £10,000. Another £10,000 will be available for the defence of a driver charged with an offence, an appeal, or a claim for losses arising from a traffic accident.

Claims against loss or damage of goods while in transit will also be covered by the six-point plan, and for countries where an import duty bond is needed, an insurance indemnity will be provided covering the money involved.
