Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Japanese light commercial vehicles made by Toyota are to be imported into Britain by Toyota GB Ltd from the middle of the year. The first models will be chassiscabs and light dropside pick-up trucks with 1.6-litre petrol engines; later complete vans may be added to the imported range. A feature of all the light models in the Toyota HI-ACE range is an exceptionally wellappointed cab, built to car standards and including such items as a cigarette lighter as standard.

The price of the RH-11B pick-up truck, rated for about 1100lb payload including driver, will be just over £900, while the RH13-3 chassis-cab (which has a channelsection main frame, the other models having integral construction) will cost between L850—£900. Marketing will be by Toyota GB Ltd, based at 320 Purley Way, Croydon CRC 4XJ.

All the HI-ACE Toyotas have an 80.5mm x 78mm four-cylinder petrol engine of 1587 cc developing 90 bhp SAE at 5400 rpm and 98 lb ft maximum torque at 3000 rpm. A four-speed all-synchromesh gearbox is standard, and the hypoid bevel rear axle has a 4.875 ratio.

Suspension is conventional — coil front, leaf rear — and so is the hydraulic brake system. Total lining area is 137 sq in.

Wheelbase is 90.2in., track 53.3in. and overall length 170in.

Top and centre: The pick-up Toyota has a load space 102.8in.-long and 62.41n.-wide. The model to be offered initially is this one, with dropsides.

Bottom: One of several van models in the Toyota HI-ACE line, which may be Introduced into the UK later.
