These reports are requested on application and at renewal at 45 years and every five years thereafter until the age of 65, from which time drivers are subject to annual renewal.
• For cases of OSA, a driving licence will be revoked if the DVLA is not satisfied that treatment is effective and well tolerated. A licence may be reinstated once satisfactory control is achieved and confirmed by medical enquiry from a consultant or specialist. Drivers will normally be issued with a licence valid initially for one year to allow for periodic review.
• All drivers are under a legal obligation to notify the DVLA of the onset or worsening of any medical condition that may affect their ability to drive safely. Failure to notify the DVLA of such changes is a criminal offence which carries a penalty fine of £1000.
