Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

1 After a slow start to the year used ales are now buoyant, say dealers tationwide. "We're quite busy now," ays independent dealer Geoff Iipson. "Things have picked up and he job's not bad at all.

"We're getting a lot of enquiries for :urn 2 6x2 tractive units from operaors who want to run at 44 tonnes, nd there's plenty of demand for tip

■ ers. We've recently sold four or five ite-registered examples at 18 tonnes. Ve're seeing increased interest in arniture vans too."

That demand is confirmed by idrian James of independent dealer ames of Stokesley. His firm regutrly installs furniture van bodies on iew and used chassis. "We've been having an incredible few weeks," says David Littlejohn, managing director of [yea) Ford dealership Grays Trucks. "Recently we sold a dozen used trucks in just two days, all to individuals, and mostly 7.5-tonners."

George Alexander, chief editor, commercial vehicles, at Glass s Guide, expects this buying spree to continue for at least the next four or five months, but he stresses that customers want late-registered vehicles, and older stock is suffering: "They're only really interested in P. plated trucks or later. If you're trying to dispose of a vehicle that's Mplated or earlier you'll find that values have fallen off a cliff."
