Picture the scene: a street near Trafalgar Square; informant is in a taxi behind a Cross Rent-a-Tipper truck, when suddenly out of the crowd a seemingly deranged gentleman appeared, jumped on the step of the lorry and began spitting and swearing at the driver.
The driver got out, armed himself with a shovel, and chased his assailant down the road, leaving his truck with its engine running in the middle of the street. The mounting din of black cab horns proved that the cab drivers stuck behind the truck were not amused.
