Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Dennis Specialist Vehicles plans to increase its production workforce by 7% this year to cope with an anticipated 20% growth in output.

Over the past three years Dennis has enjoyed 20% compound growth year on year. It plans to continue that trend by turning out over 550 bus and coach chassis this year.

Two national sales manager jobs have been created to handle the increased work: former regional sales manager (bus) David Cheeseman becomes responsible for buses, and former coach sales manager Mike Martin looks after coaches. They report to sales director Roger Heard.

"It makes good sense to meet the specific needs of two quite different markets by clearly separating the responsibilities," says Heard. He says that the production workforce will increase to around 215; three or four more sales staff will also be taken on.
