Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Seddon Atkinson has extended its recently launched Strato TC multi-wheeler lineup with the adoption of the 198kW (265hp) 8.3-litre Cummins C Series engine in its latest TC26. 27C chassis. Until now the charge-cooled C Series power unit has only been available in the R24 C26 six-wheeler beneath the longserving Motor Panels cab.

The TC26.27C will provide a lightweight alternative to the TC26. 28C Strato six-legger which is powered by the L10 Cummins engine rated at 205kW (275hp). The C Series engine has a maximum torque of 950Nm (7001bft), compared with the L10's 1, 166Nm (8601bft).

The Strato-cabbed TC26. 27C and the MP-cabbed R24 C26 share Norde rubber suspension and the Eaton 6109 nine-speed synchromesh gearbox as standard. The TC26.27C, in common with the other Strato multiwheelers, uses the latest SRHD Rockwell back bogie instead of the R24 C26's old RABA back axles. Wheelbases also vary slightly between the two models.

Although the R24 C26 chassis has a slightly lower km-him:eight

than the Strato TC model by around 200kg, the IC has a design rating of 26 tonnes GVW, in line with forthcoming EC legislation, while the R24 is plated for 24-tonne work.

The C Series-powered Strato TC 6x4 also has bigger Girling SAC brakes offering a greater friction area.

Seddon Atkinson says it will continue to offer the old MP cab model "for as long as there is demand for it". Price for the shortest wheelbase TC26. 27C is £43,926, against the equivalent R24 C26 chassis' £43,429.

Seddon says it will adopt the uprated version of the C Series engine as soon as it has completed engineering work.

According to the Oldhambased truck builder it could "possibly" produce a lightweight 32-tonne TC tractor version using the same C Series engine. This would give it a direct competitor to Foden's 3000 Series and ERF's ES. 275 which are both powered by the C Series.
