Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

QEVENTY-SIX goods models are now L) being produced by M. G. Rowe (Motors) Doublebois, Ltd., Liskeard,. Cornwall. They include four-wheelers from 6-10-ton capacity and tractors for articulated outfits of payloads up to 15 tons.

Five basic 6-ton chassis range in wheelbase from 9 ft, 3 in, to 16 ft for bodies up to 22 ft. long, with either the Meadows 4DC 330 or Gardner 4LK oil engine. The same wheelbase lengths apply to the five 7-ton chassis, but there is now a choice of three power units—Meadows 40C 330, Gardner 4LW or Leyland 0.350. A 10-ton tractor has an 8-ft. 8-in. wheelbase.

With wheelbases of up to 16 ft. 7 in., there are six basic 8-tonners, the choice of engines being the same as for the 7-ton models, with the further option of the A.E.C. AV.410 unit. A 22-ft. 10-in. pantechnicon body can be mounted on the 16-ft. 7-in.-wheelbase chassis.

In the 9-10-ton range there are five basic lightweight chassis and three heavyduty versions. The lighter models have Gardner 4LW, Leyland 0.350 or A.E.C. AV.410 engines, whilst the heavy-duty versions have Meadows 6DC 500, Gardner 5LW or A.E.C. AV.470 units. Tractor versions of. the heavy-duty chassis are suitable for 24 tons gross train weight, Options on various models include vacuurn-hydraulic, air-hydraulic or straight air-braking systems. All models have five-speed gearboxes, some incorporating synchromesh. The 8-ton chassis have Eaton 16.500 two-speed axles, all• the other models having single-speed units.

ROTINOFFS MAKE-FIRST RUNS T13/0 Rotinoff Viscount "cattle trans"porters made their first long-distance haul in Australia this week. Towing two trailers each they are capable of carrying 120 steers in a 12-hour journey which would take the beasts six weeks on the hoof. The Viscount has a Rolls-Royce supercharged engine and power steering, whilst the cab has comfortable appointments for the crew of two.

If the outfits' use is considered successful, the ending of driving cattle on the hoof will be hastened, and meat of better quality may be exported. Vestey Pastoral Interests, the biggest Australian cattle and meat-canning concern, are the operators.

MORE "GREEN ARROWS"

THE railway "Green Arrow" registered transit arrangement, by which consignments are specially watched and notified at various control points, is to be extended to cover all classes of freight from next Monday. At present it is confined to wagon-loads for shipment and to perishable, livestock and household-removal traffic.

Again the cover will be allowed only for full wagon-loads. The registration fee will stay at 2s. 6d. per consignment.
