THE merging of the Yorkshire Stage Carriage Operators Association with the Yorkshire area of A.R.O. is now an accomplished fact. The signing of the amalgamation agreement was completed in Leeds last Saturday.

In addition to the fact, that about 3,000 YorkShire operators are now members of A.R.O., an immediate Step following the merger will be the development of a greater degree of cooperation between operators in Yorkshireand Lancashire. This was indiCated by Mr. Robert Barr; who is to be chairman of the merged organizations, in an interview . with a correspondent of The Commercial Motor.

Barr said that a joint intercounty committee would be Set up and would meet_ for the exchange of views on matters of mutual interest. It would also examine and compare the decisions of the Yorkshire and North-Western•Licensing Authorities and Commissioners, in view of the community of interest between the two areas. The committee would advise .A.R.O. headquarters on questions of mutual concern to Yorkshire and Lancashire, and recommend what steps should be taken.

An instance of the co-op ration which it is sought to develop s that, last week, Mr. Barr spoke at two A.R.O. Meetings in Lancashirs one in Manchester and the other in ochclale.
