Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Sheffield Horse and Motor 1 Owners Association has dissociated itself from the new proposals on wages and conditions put forward from the employers' side at last week's meeting of the Yorkshire Conciliation Board. It is expected that the trade unions will fight the new proposals by taking a test case to the Industrial Court.

These are the chief items of news concerning the wages position in the Yorkshire Area.

An official statement issued from the employers' side declared that the new proposals had the hacking of various employers' organizations in Yorkshire, including the Sheffield Horse and Motor Owners Association. So far as it concerns the latter body the statement is repudiated. A correspondent was in

formed that the Sheffield Association's attitude was indicated at the Area Board meeting.

This attitude is that the Yorkshire interim agreement should be continued and that the Yorkshire wages award made by Sir Richard Redmayne, chairman of the appeals committee of the National Board, to operate from October 1 next, should be accepted.

The Sheffield Association's attitude is understood to be based on the contention that the policy of the other employers' associations is unconstitutional in this matter—not on opposition to the new proposals as such.

It is, we are informed, held that as the Yorkshire employers were parties to the taking of the wages question to appeal, they should honour the award.
