" K.P.L." Debut.

Our Birmingham correspondent writes to us that the first " K.P.L." motorbus, to whose provisional licensing we made reference in our last issue, is creating a great. sensation on the route in Birmingham which it is now serving regularly. The general impression locally is that the vehicle itself is remarkable for its smooth running, for its quietness, and for its excellent internallighting arrangement. Our corre spondent states that he considers the acceleration on this route by the new vehicle is remarkable.

Skipton's Feeders.

At a recent meeting of the Skipton Town Council, a resolution was carried approving of the promotion in the next session of Parliament of a Bill dealing with several local improvements, amongst which is included a trolleybus scheme and an extension of the motorbus service to various surrounding districts. The chairman of the Tramways Committee, on the same occasion, replying to criticisms with regard to the motorbus service, stated that these vehicles were a loss but they were valuable feeders to the trams. Should Try the,Menu.

Abergavenny to Rhyl.

At a recent meeting of the Rhyl Urban District Council, a letter was read from Mr. Harrison of Abergavenny, in which he stated that he understood—{per the issue of TnE COMMERCIAL MOTOR for the 7th inst. -Enj—that the council contemplated running motorbuses in the town. As he was giving up his service in Abergavenny in consequence of the introduction of competitive electric trams, he was prepared to consider the advisability of bringing his plant to Rhyl. The council decided to go into the offer carefully, and referred Mr. Harrison's letter to the Road Committee for detailed consideration.

The Berlin General Omnibus Co.'s " Charley's Aunt."

Our Berlin correspondent writes :—" In a recent communication on the opening of a new motorbus-yard belonging to the Berlin Genera/ Omnibus Co. I referred to an omnibus which had already covered 276,000 working kilom.—say 172,500 miles—and, like " Charley's Aunt r" was " still running." On inquiry I discover that " Charley's Aunt" is a Daimler-Marienfelde, and in view of the vehicle's past performances, added to the fact that it is now running better than at the start, T send a " snap " with the object of immortalizing the double-decker in your columns. In that same communication I also. touched upon an omnibus-chassis with hydraulic transmissions tn which this company purpose giving a trial. The system applied turns out to be the Lentz. At the Lentz headquarters a profound secrecy is observed regarding the internal arrangements of the system, but I am under a strong impression that the invention is identical with that illustrated and circumstantially described not long ago in "The Motor." [Yes, it is. The device was shown at the recent Olympia. Motor Show.—En.] Assuming the. correctness of my impression, the reason for refusing information appears somewhat illogical."
