AN APPEAL against a conviction for making a false tachogr, record by Ivor Teale, a driver employed by Arthur Oakley Transr Ltd of Hereford was abandoned shortly before it was due to heard by Worcester Crown Court.

The company indicated that it could no longer afford to continue to defend itself and its drivers as the Road Haulage Association had put a limit on the amount of costs it was prepared to meet (CM August 21), and Mr Teale therefore abandoned his appeal.
