Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A new version of the Isuzubuilt Bedford-badged KB onetonne pickup should reach Britain by the end of the year — possibly in time for the Birmingham Motor show.

It is believed that a new version of the long serving KB — currently sold in the UK as the 4 x 2 1026 — and the 4 x 4 KBD41, with petrol and naturally-aspirated diesel engines, is about to be launched in Japan by Isuzu.

The new models are likely to have a revised body shell, similar to the Nissan and Mitsubishi one-tonne pickups, possibly with a turbocharged diesel engine option.

IBC Vehicles, the Lutonbased van manufacturing company which took over the van building activities of Bedford, may also import 3.5-tonne Isuzu GVW chassis cab and vans, based on the Japanese NPR/ NKR range (CM 4-10 February) to fill the gap left by the demise of the Bedford CF in the 3.5-tonne sector.

IBC's heaviest vehicle is now the 2.55-tonne longwheelbase, high-roof Midi van.

IBC says that an Isuzu chassis cab and van at 3.5 tonne,-.'

"one of several lines of enquiry". If the company decides against bringing in a heavier Isuzu, it might opt for a chassis-cab version of the Midi. El IBC Vehicles, which is jointly-owned by GM and Isuzu, says it intends to steadily improve on the financial situation it inherited when it took over Bedford's van building activities late last year, which were then losing more than £500,000 a week.

It aims to break back into the black in 1989, and this year will build some 34,000 Midis and Rascals, including 14,000 for export.
