Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Aluminium fabrication and welding company Braby Bristol began updating its welding equipment after visiting a UK welding exhibition in 1984. Three companies were asked to install their equipment — one failed to do so — and Gillingham-based ESAB (tel Medway (0634) 34455) was preferred by the welders.

Now Braby makes containers up to 24 metres long. used by the food, plastics and petrochemical industries, and high-integrity pressure vessels and liquid containers for road tankers. Braby equipment gets specially requested for the more demanding work and its use is encouraging them to develop their skills still further.

Braby needs a constant supply of filler material to the nozzle in order to produce xray quality welds and the wire feed must take place smoothly. When pure aluminium is being welded, smooth wire feed is critical. This is where use of the ZESAB A91400 MEG unit with an A9E gun is particularly successful, and in the past two years Braby has bought seven.
