Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Iveco Ford Truck will have at least three new models on display at next month's Motor Show. The long-awaited right hand drive TurboStar could be a fourth.

A right hand drive TurboStar tractive unit certainly will be type approved before the end of this year. It is a 6x2 tractive unit with Iveco's most powerful engine, the 313kW (420hp), 17-litre, turbocharged vee-eight.

Unlike the existing 220.30 and 220.38 6 x2 Iveco tractive units, the new Turbo Star is not a twin-steer, but has a lifting, trailing third axle similar to those used by Scania and Volvo.

Two of Iveco Ford's new Show models are replacements for existing Iveco models in the 16.26 tonne and 38 tonne gross weight market sectors. The third extends the Cargo range to 38-tonnes GCW for the first time.

The 175.17 is the new Iveco 16.25-tonne GVW rigid which replaces the 159.17. David Gill, lveco Ford marketing director, says that last year 44% of all 16-tonners sold in the UK were in the high power category, above 119kW (160hp)", and he is aiming to win a bigger share of this sector with the 130kW (177hp) 175.17.

In addition to being more powerful than its predecessor, the new Iveco 16-toriner is also lighter. Kerb weight for the 5,500mm wheelbase model is quoted as 4,990kg.

The 175.17's engine is the 5.9-litre, turbocharged, 8060.25, in-line six cylinder

unit which was introduced earlier this year (CM March 1) in a new 25-tonne GCW tractive unit — the 135.171.

Standard gearbox is the sixspeed synchromesh ZF S6-36, with the twelve-speed splitter version offered as an option. The rear axle is a Rockwell CVC S160E single-reduction unit with a maximum design weight of 11.500kg.

The 175.24 family of 38tonne GTW tractive units and rigids replaces the current 165.24 range. A new, 9.5-litre turbocharged engine, de

signated 8460.21 has the same 177kW (240hp) power output as the 165.24's 9.6-litre turbocharged unit, but improvements are claimed in reliability, durability and fuel economy.

Like the 175.17, the 175.24 uses the single-reduction Rockwell S160E drive axle. Gearbox choice is between the nine-speed constant-mesh Eaton RTX 7609 and the IF twelve-speed synchromesh S6 90 with splitter.

The Cargo range now goes up to 38-tonnes and beyond with the introduction of two new rigid trucks, and one new tractive unit model. All are powered by the chargecooled, LTA10-290 Cununins 10-litre engine.

The 1628 truck model will be available in five wheelbases, from 3,520 to 6,200mm; the 3828 tractor (with a 40 tonne plate and 4028 badge in France and Germany) only in 3,520mm wheelbase form, All models will be available with day or sleeper cabs, apart from the 3,520mm 1628 truck model which will come only with a day cab.

Standard gearbox for all the new Cargos is the nine-speed Eaton 11609A, but the twelvespeed Eaton Twin-Splitter will he an option.

Production of the 208kW (283hp) Cargos will begin at Langley next month.
