Co-operative Association announced that they had decided to help societies to improve standards of packing and to encourage the use of standard containers, and experiment with non-returnable containers.
Following the Runciman Committee's report on horticultural marketing, the Association expect the societies' policy of providing bulk loading depots to be accelerated. Present depots are already equipped with pallets and fork-lift trucks for transhipment of produce from local to trunk vehicles, operated both by the producers and private hauliers.
