NEWS HAS reached CM of Britain’s first environmentally friendly truck recovery firm.

Run by South and West Yorkshire Mercedes-Benz dealer Northside Truck & Van, it has 32 ‘truck pullers’ who staged their first recovery on 14 October by pulling an eight-tonne Actros unit three miles across Leeds.

The truck pullers, it appears, also work on a not-for-profit basis, with the £8,000 they raised ‘recovering’ the vehicle being donated to Help For Heroes.

The truck recovery was organised by Northside service team leader and former soldier Ian Hannon, who served with the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers in Kosovo and Bosnia.

“The truck weighs eight tonnes but pulling it wasn’t too bad,” says Hannon.

“We’re all delighted we raised so much money for a very worthy cause.”
