Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A wear-and-tear guide launched at this year's CV Show has become the industry standard for assessing damage on ex-fleet vans.

The vans Fair Wear and Tear Guide has entered its third print run as rental, lease and fleet owners have adopted it as an industry standard for gauging damage on dehired and de-fleeted vehicles Demand for Manheim's recommendations has resulted in the sale of 20,000 copies. Some companies have started placing a copy in each vehicle to ensure the driver knows what standards are required when returning a van.

The move has led companies with nodefleeting system to adopt the FWTG as their own, forcing some operators to repair vehicles under their own steam to avoid financial penalties.

"We have had a high level of interest in the guide from all sectors of our membership, from rental and contract hire companies to public utilities Sales have far exceeded our original expectations and we are on our third reprint already," says John Lewis, the director-general of the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA).

Alex Wright is Ma nheim's commercial vehicle sales director. He says:" We were pleased to work with the BVRLA on this guide and hope to update it in the near future, taking in some of the feedback we have had from UK fleets.

-The quality and usefulness of the guide clearly demonstrates the expertise of Manheim and reinforces our position as the UK's leading LCV remarketing company," he adds. • • Contact: www.bvrla.co.uk
