Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Transport and Road Research Laboratory is to investigz the effect of an advisory sign on close-following by drivers.

Using the A332 Ascot to Windsor road, the study got un( way last Monday.

The installation measures the time gap between the rear of one vehicle and the front of the next by recording when the vehicles interrupt an infrared light beam.

If this time is less than a pre-set value, a roadside sign is activated.

This sign will initially have a fixed message "FOLLOWING. TOO CLOSELY . . . . WHEN LIT" and when activated it will display the advice "MOVE APART".

It is intended to study other versions of the sign.
