Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Ar open-gap press-frame has been introduced by Tangyes Ltd.. which is designed for use with a Tangye 5-ton Hydramite jack as a power unit to provide a very useful bench press.

This particular jack has four holes in its base with which it is fastened to the press-frame. A steel plate locates over the ram head. forming the press platen and this runs in guide rails in the neck of the frame. The rails are calibrated in inches and provide a means of measuring platen movement. The platen is spring loaded so that it returns automatically to the lowest position when hydraulic pressure is released from the jack.

The reaction head of the press comprises a changeable tool-holder and provision is also made for the inclusion of a sensitive load capsule with dial indicator. These are obtainable as optional extras. A drilled base allows the press-frame to be bolted either direct to a bench or on to a baseboard to make the unit portable. All the components of this unit are available from stock.

Made by: Tangyes Ltd., Cornwall Works. Smethwick, Birmingham. Price: Press frame. £25; jack, £38 5s.; load capsule. £5 10s.
