Overweight • Mark Edwards, trading as R&M Services, of Bridgend, was fined £120 after pleading guilty before the Trowbridge magistrates to a 7% overload on a 7.5-tonner carrying piping. Driver Frederick Groom was fined £60 and Edwards and Groom were ordered to pay £60 prosecution costs.

Welsh blitz • A South Wales multi-agency blitz on LGVs at Miskin on 17 March resulted in nine vehicles receiving immediate prohibitions and three delayed prohibitions. Six foreign vehicles were given prohibitions for excess hours, one for having no insurance and one for using rebated fuel.

Fortnight off • Maintenance problems have led to the licence for 10 vehicles and 10 trailers held by Philip O'Reilly, trading as O'Reilly Scaffolding, being suspended for two weeks by West Midland DTC Alan Cattell. O'Reilly appeared before the DTC at a Birmingham disciplinary inquiry.
