United Carriers' restructuring programme during 1995 seems to have been successful: the company has announced much improved financial results for 1996.
The high-volume parcels specialist announced pre-tax profits of £2.1m for 1996, compared with a loss of £1.9m during the previous year.
Turnover for the same period was up from £128m to £136m, suggesting the new manage ment team's tighter financial controls have paid dividends.
United says that it recorded particularly strong sales in the fourth quarter of 1996.
