It found a net balance of 12% of transport and distribution companies planning to take on more staff between April and June, compared with 14% in the rest of British industry.
Only cash-strapped industries such as the NHS, local government and textiles planned to create fewer jobs, along with the banks, which are using IT to reduce staffing levels.
The figure is the result of subtracting the number of hauliers who are predicting fewer jobs (10%) from the number predicting that there will be more (22%).
A balance of 7% of hauliers thought more jobs would be created this time last year.
