PILCHER-GREENE LTD, of Burgess Hill, West Sussex, claims to be the first bodybuilder in this country to have converted a Renault Master T 35 van for use as an ambulance.
Front wheel drive is unusual on a vehicle of this size but the resulting low floor height (506mm [19.9in] when unladen) and the generous interior headroom makes the van espe cially suitable for ambulance work-. One of the re-Commendations of the Ambulance Service Advisory Committee regarding ambulance specification is that interior headroom should be a minimum of 6ft.
Pilcher-Greene's two Masters, for worldwide medical assistance experts Trans Care International, each have space for two stretcher cases but they also have central stretcher locations to allow for all round access to patients when necessary.
