• Independent importers are finding that top-of-the-range Daf and Volvo tractive units are eclipsing Scanias in popularity, according to Simon Hall of import specialist and trailer manufacturer Kel-Berg.
"Scanias have become several thousand pounds more expensive than the equivalent Volvo or Daf model, even at import prices, so not surprisingly operators don't want them," he comments.
Kel-Berg is actively promoting the range of specialist trailers it makes, including asphalt and aggregate tippers, Hall reports.
"We can offer a MercedesBenz Actros 2640 6x4 rigid coupled to a triaxle drawbar trailer, both equipped with 14m3 insulated alloy tipper bodies, which will achieve a 30.200kg payload at 44 tonnes," he says.
