• Fashion Logistics, Tibbett & Britten Group's restructured clothing distribution division, has until the end of the year to turn a loss-making operation into a profitable one.

The new division, launched last month (CM 16-22 May), faces a tough challenge against a flat high-street retail market. Earlier this month it bought the goodwill of defunct rival Scorpio International (CM 6-12 June).

Fashion Logistic's sales and marketing director Duncan Gray says he is confident the division will announce a profit on 31 December. "New contracts gained this year allied to existing work will considerably improve our trading position," says Gray.

THG used to distribute clothing through its National Division and described last year's performance as "unacceptable".

Fashion Logistics added to its customer base this week with a tlm contract to provide dedi

cated distribution for Sears Womenswear Division and Wallis Europe. The contract is for the distribution of more than six million garments to 230 UK and German retailers. It won the contract from Lewis Distribution services.

A fleet of 29 Sear's liveried vehicles will carry out the work.

Half of TBG's £3 start-up cash will provide Fashion Logistics with 85 new vehicles over its two-year launch programme.
