'HE Danish road haulage .ssociation has obtained a arge concession for its memlers in respect of a new tax ihich becomes payable from uly 1.
Under the new Danish law, " supplement " of 50 per eat is being added compulorily to all third-party insurnee premiums, to finance le public cost, of medical and ospital treatment of accident ictims.
The Danish RHA, said Mr ,xel Mortensen in England ist week, had pointed out 'tat premiums had only just een increased, and pressed )it. a lower rate of supplement )r professional operators. The rovernment had reduced the aulage operators' obligation ) only 25 per cent of the iird-party premium.
Mr Mortensen also reported le Danish hauliers were trongly opposed to suggesons that higher fuel tax iould be substituted for yeice road fund licence tax; ich a move penalised the .ansport operator, who Drmally covered high annual lileages, compared with the iotorist. Any Such change ould only be acceptable if nked with a distance tax, as , Sweden.
