FOUR of the 12 special-A-licence vehicles operated by S. Grirnshaw and Sons, Ltd., Holme Lane, Selby, were last week deleted for a month by the Yorkshire Licensing Authority, Maj. F. S. Eastwood. His inquiry followed the company's prosecutionat Selby on March 24 for offences connected with

drivers' hours. .

Mr, A. J. Cousins, clerk to the Authority, said Grirnshaw's were fined ,£394, and their drivers /316, after they had pleaded guilty to 312 charges. For the company, Mr. A. Goss said that. once drivers left the depot it was not possible for an operator to know all that was going on. After being fined, drivers cottld forget the matter, but the operator had -to face the music again. This was the first time Grimshaw's had been prosecuted since they started in business 18 years ago. Maj: Eastwood said in view of the magnitude of the offences he took a serious view of the case. The deletions take effect from July I.
