SCANIA DEALER KELTRUCK has acquired Silurian Scania, the dealer group for South Wales, for an undisclosed sum.
Silurian has a head office in Cardiff with three other depots in Caldicot, Llanelli and Ross-on-Wye, and employs 42 people.
In 2010 it had an £8m turnover, selling 45 new and 40 used trucks.
The acquisition takes Midlandsbased Keltruck to 21 depots, from Worksop in the north to Cheltenham in the south, and cements its position as the biggest privately owned Scania dealer group in the world.
Keltruck chairman and founder Chris Kelly (pictured) says: “We have been sitting on a considerable cash balance for some time while looking for an acquisition in our sector.
“Silurian came along due to the retirement of its shareholder and MD, and is a perfect fit for us. We intend to bring the services available to truck, bus and coach operators in South Wales in line with those offered by the rest of the Keltruck business.” Keltruck MD and dealer principal Andrew Jamieson has now taken on the same roles at Silurian.
He says: “We are delighted with this acquisition.
“With our existing scale and range of services, we are confident that we can also deliver a number of positives to Silurian Scania and their customers.” Keltruck now employs 502 people following the deal.
