Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Stuart Thomas gives us his regular round-up of the wa the newspapers have covered the world of transport this week.

"I know," Olisio da Silva must have thought one day. "I've got a free half-hour. I think I'll turn my van into a robot. It'll give me something to do and surprise the wife." So the Brazilian wandered outside and set about his Kia Besta van with the help of his two kids, who no doubt realised their dad had lost the plot but who were unwilling to stay inside and miss his very public journey into insanity.

The result, as published in The Sun, shows step-by-step th six-minute (!) process through which the van converts into a 12ft-tall robot, along the lines of the current Citroen TV advert.

Da Silva is £70,000 lighter after his forays into robotic transformation. Most middle-aged men with similar anxieties buy a sports car and have an affair —we're not sure if this wouli have been less embarrassing for Mrs da Silva.

The phrase 'sleeping policemen' has taken on a new meaninc after the Telegraph revealed 72% of police officers admitted ti falling asleep while driving; three times more than the general public. It has been blamed on "organisational factors", which leave policemen vulnerable to tiredness. Somme 500 cops were quizzed; presumably the rest were catching 40 winks.

The Daily Mirrorwas more than happy to wade in with yet another reason why we're all killing each other on the road network: it's the time of year. Evidently Winter Drivers' Disorder, characterised by mood changes, irritability and short 12m DRIVERS LETI temper, could account for two million nzcrashes a year. "Motorists in Yorkshire, Humberside and Scotland were most likely to suffer from WOO," reported the paper. However, In The News wonders if this 'syndrome' might just be a subset of the more sweeping disorder known as Living Oop North Syndrome. Or maybe nc Moods cause • era accident.
