Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Used truck prices continued rising this week as an auction of over 200 vehicles brought in prices well up on last year.

Some dealers at the Mansfield weekend auction attributed the higher prices for secondhand vehicles — some estimated to be as much as 30% up on six to eight months ago — to the improved economic activity feeding through to increased demand.

Overall they report the rises averaging around 15% above last summer's prices.

One dealer blamed private buyers getting "carried away" with the sale.

The NCA-run sale of the 210 ex-Transfleet vehicles netted over Ll million. The average age of the vehicles — mostly rigids — was F, registered in 1989.

Some of the vehicles, including a 1988 Iveco Ford Cargo box van which sold for £5,100, sold surprisingly well, according to NCA national account sales manager, Mike Gray. At the end of last year, a similar specification vehicle would have been expected to sell at around £4,200, reports Gray.

On 5 February at Mansfield NCA will auction around 150 tractive units and 12 trailers from Transfleet.
