EQUIPMENT intended to give greater accuracy in the setting of the new All-Glass sealed-beam headlight unit has been introduced by Joseph Lucas, Ltd. Known as the Lucas Lev-L Lite beam aimer, the new instrument is supplied in a kit which includes two aimers, a transit unit, a target and adaptor rings. This enables both 51-in.and 7-in.-diameter light units to be checked.

In use, the two aimers are positioned on the three studs on the outer edges of the headlamp lenses, and secured to the glass by a lever-operated rubber suction cup. The transit unit and the target are placed by the front and rear wheels at one side, and adjusted to obtain a reading. This is transferred to the aimers to compensate them for any inaccuracies in the floor level. When this has been done, headlamp alignment is achieved by lining up the two aimers through the viewing incorporated in them.

The new units are not intended for the alignment of light units with separate replaceable bulb's.

Cheaply Made Racking ASIMPLE method of connecting one tube to another without the need for welding, screwing or bolting, so making it possible to build tubular structures both cheaply and quickly, is a feature of Clinch tube joints—a new product from Access Equipment, Ltd., Maylands Avenue, Hemel Hempstead, Herts.

The joint operates on the principle of internal pressure of one tube balancing the external pressure of the other. The single tee-joint, for example, is slid over the first tube, the spring spigot stems are c10 then compressed with a self-locking wrench or spanner, and inserted into the right-angle tube. The joint is then consolidated with a hammer or mallet,

Clinch joints are currently available for 14 in. outside diameter by 16 S.W.G. resistance welded tube, and are priced from is. 9d. to 3s. depending on type and finish, although it is said that most forms of racking can he made using the two basic joints, which cost Is. 9d. each, or 2s. Id, if galvanized.

Joints for 1 in. outside diameter by 16 S.W.G. tube will be available in April and other sizes will be made available in due course.
