widely known throughout the Scottish road-transport industry. He served an apprenticeship of 34. years with Fraser and Borthwick, of Glasgow, and joined the Glasgow office of John I. Thornycroft and Co., Ltd., in 1913. In 1916, he was appointed assistant works manager of the Caledon Motor Engineering Co., Ltd., Glasgow, and in 1918 joined Leyland Motors, Ltd., as assistant Scottish manager, a position he has now

relinquished to join the A.E.C. concern.

MR. H. J. MACINNES and Mr. J. MCWILLIAM, who have represented A.E.C. in Scotland for some time past, will continue in their present territories, but will be responsible to the new area manager.

MR. B. M. MCLACHLAN, whose portrait appears on this page has joined Mullett's Motor Works, Ltd., of Bristol. After 1918, he spent some years in the service department of the -Singer, concern, and, later, was service manager for Rileys, Ltd., at the company's London depot. He then joined the service department of the Dodge Brothers and Chrysler concern, and for the past three years has been its travelling service representative in southern territory. His aim in his new sphere will be completely to reorganize the service, repairs and stores department of the company.

Appreciation of the services of Ma. F. H. PEACOCK, manager of the Cleethorpes transport undertaking, was expressed at a meeting of Cleethorpes Borough Council, last week. He recently resigned to take up a similar position at Bombay. MR. J. V. WILL, at present carrying out the duties of traffic superintendent, was appointed to take charge of the transport undertaking for a period of six months from February 1, and MR, T. W. READ, at present acting as inspector, was appointed traffic superintendent for a similar period, after which the whole matter is to be reviewed.
