objection policy in melting pot

[HE Road Haulage Association is to reconsider its policy on )pposing 0-licence applications where the operating base is a xrivate house following three Transport Tribunal decisions which turned down RHA appeals. (CM page 11).

For six months last year the RHA's North western (eastern) irea undertook to monitor local 0-licence applications by pros)ective hauliers if their operating centres were not considered mitable.

Now the RHA standing licenling committee will review the iituation at a meeting to be !;alled for the end of March. it will make a recommendation :o the National Council on whether to continue the policy A opposition.

Committee secretary Mr . H. Mitchell told CM this week that it was likely that the RHA would continue to make representations to the LAs, though on a much more selective basis. The wording of the provisions was not precise nough for vigorous and successful opposition, he said.
