SAYS MR CUBE
SUGAR refiners Tate and Lyle have dismissed as "pure speculation " reports that there were to be 7,000 redundancies within the industry in the near future.
A Mr Cube spokesman said this week: "These reports are pure speculation. There has been a complete re-think of the cane sugar industry over the past few years because of changes in supply.
'There are plans and proposals for the future, but nothing has been decided and nothing is final."
Silver Roadways—Tate and Lyle's haulage subsidiary—also denied that any cuts in the sugar industry would affect them.
