IT is announced today by Vauxhall I Motors Ltd. that their Bedford TK forward-control, 1 I-ft. 3-in.and 12-ft. 7-in.-wheelbase, 5-Lon goods chassis are low available with the Bedford 220-cu.-in. diesel engine as a new. option to the 300-cu.-in, diesel and 214-cu.-in, petrol engines Rh:ch have hitherto been the only power units available in this model. The 220-cu.-in. engine is a four-cylinder, Erect-injection unit with a gross power Dutput of 70 b.h.p. at 2,800 r.p.m. and a lorque rating of 175 lb. ft. at 1,400 r.p.m. Fhe specification of this engine brings the :hassis price down by £68 compared with he price of the 5-ton diesels with six:ylinder engine.

This new engine option becomes generally available irs February. and at the same time a 7.17-to-1 final-drive ratio is to be made available for the Eaton single-speed axle used in the TK 10-ft.and 13-ft. 11-in.-wheelbase, 8-ton chassis —this being additional to the 5.57and 6.50-to-1 ratios already offered. ln like manner, a new set of ratios becomes available for the two-speed axle used in the chassis: the new axle will incorporate the 7-17-to-1 crown wheel and pinion, and with the additional reduction ratio this will give a low gear of 9-98 to 1.

Also announced today is the fitting of flashing direction indicators as standard equipment on all Bedford T1 normalcontrol models, with the exception of .14A 8-ton tractive units, at no extra cost.
