AS indicated last week a new roll-on roll-off service linking the East Coas with the Continent has been announce, by the Transport Ferry Service. The no service will run between Felixstow and Rotterdam, and is expected to corn into operation early in 1965.
Mr. Michael K. Bustard, genera manager of T.F.S., said that trade wit] Europe was increasing at a very fast rat indeed and British exporters had beei quick to realise the advantages of door to-door delivery. This year T.F.S. =Tie( over 65 per cent more unit loads on it Continental service than last year.
The new service would reduce the cos of transport for manufacturers in Oa Midlands, North and East, said Mr Bustard, and be of great advantage t( exporters from the traditional industria areas.
The agreement for facilities to operati the new service was signed last week 13] the Atlantic Steam Navigation Co., whici operates the Transport Ferry Service an( the Felixstowe Dock and Railway Co.
