Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Ford & Slater of Leicester has won this year's Leyland Daf Approved Used Vehicle Dealer of the Year award. Highly-commended were Chatfields, of Leeds, which won the inaugural award scheme last year, and North West Trucks, of Huyton, Merseyside (see above).

The award is not geared solely to sales volumes, says John Ash, general manager for residual values at Commercial Vehicle Contracts, which runs the awards. "Dealers have to commit to quality standards which cover their premises as well as the trucks they sell. We assess them quarterly.

"There are 18 approved deal

ers out of 40-plus Leyland Dal sales outlets. The others sell some used vehicles, but not all want to commit to becoming an approved used dealer." CVC, which is owned jointly by Leyland Dal and its dealers, underwrites the residual values of the trucks and administers the manufacturer's repair and maintenance scheme.

Ford & Slater has sites in Coventry, Peterborough, Spalding, Lincoln, Norwich and Wymondham, as well as Leicester. Last year it acquired Foden dealership Peterborough Engineering, and has spent more than £100,000 improving its customer facing areas at Leicester.
