Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Right-hand-drive Kassbohrer 300 Series are likely to be available for the 1994 coach season, a year earlier than the German manufacturer had originally planned, because it has received orders for nearly 30 of the luxury coaches from British operators.

Lincoln-based dealer Kassbohrer (UK) hopes the commitment from British operators, which have ordered 28, will encourage the manufacturer to have RHD versions ready late next year for the 1994 coach season.

"A lot of British operators want the 300 Series by 1993/94 so the pressure is on in Germany," says Kassbohrer (UK) managing director Jim Shuttleworth. "Obviously Kassbohrer is interested in the volume of orders and we all hope that the commitment shown here will push forward production."

Middlesex-based Travellers Coach Company is ordering be tween 10 and 15 of the 300 Series — but it says that if it has to wait until 1995 it will probably place the order with another company. It expects to take the MAN engine, which it already runs in 14 Setras among its fleet of 40 coaches.

West Drayton-based Capital Coaches has ordered 10 Mercedes-Benz powered 300 Series. Ideally it wants the units for next season, but says it will wait until 1994. It runs 26 Setras in its fleet of 110. Silver Coach Lines of Edinburgh has also placed an order for a 300 Series.

Kassbohrer, which will also sell the 300 Series with Scania engines, has just opened a factory in Ulm, West Germany, which it will dedicate to the new model. It can turn out more than 2,000 units a year.

The 300 Series was launched at the Kortrijk Fair last October and will eventually replace the 200 Series, which was introduced 16 years ago. So far 300 Series sales have topped 550.
