Truckfest Peterborough is held this weekend at the East of England Shovvground, Peterborough. Brian Weatherley reports.4

With the Commercial Vehicle Show done and dusted the attention now shifts toTruckfest Peterborough, the biggest UK truck show of the year.

The event will be held this bank holiday weekend at the East of England Showground on Sunday 30April and won't finish until all the prizes have been given out late on Monday I May.

Most of the major truck manufacturers will be in attendance and it will test the logistics skills of their events teams to dismantle their Birmingham show stands, shift the vehicles to Peterborough and create an exhibition to the usual high standards,all in the space of 48 hours.

Naturally, the manufacturers will want to show off their latest wares at Europe's biggest trucking show. including "Europe's most powerful production truck"the new tirebreathing FH16.660,which you can find on the Volvo stand.

While arch-rival Scania will clearly not want to be put in the shade, the main event at its stand will he the launch of its range ofTruck Gear clothing. Sure, there'll be trucks on parade. no fewer than six vehicles on display including the latest 620hp V8 Topline tractor, if you're interested but expect the clothing to get the most attention.

Last week's issue included a full run-down on the new Daf XF105. Visitors to Trucklest will this year be able to see the machine in the flesh. Daf will have a number of examples of the new truck, complete with revised interior, designed to keep drivers happy behind the wheel of the new Flying Dutchman, on parade.

There's no mistaking what will be pride of place on the Mercedes stand. Heathrow-based airfreight specialist Watkins & Sole has taken delivery of a real 'flagship' motor for its 150th Mercedes truck a V8-powered 2554 Megaspace Executive Auto.complete with new vinyl-wrapped livery, extra lights top and bottom and the registration number 1HOV!
