Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Eaton is developing a 12speed version of its recently launched 16-speed S-Series synchromesh transmission at the request of express parcels haulier TNT. According to Eaton's UK field sales and service manager Ron Hancock, the 12-speed S-Series retains the original 16speed gear sets and ratios but simply does away with the splitter in low range.

Reception from UK operators to the S-Series box has been extremely positive, says

Hancock. ERF and Foden are offering S-Series as an option while MAN has it as standard on all right-hand-drive F2000 tractors. ERF says that it can offer nine or 12-speed versions of the normal S-Series "by modifying its control system".
