Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Transfrigoroute International (TI) is calling on all 15 EU governments to accept what it claims is a workable common standard for temperature recorders fitted inside reefers.

It proposes that each country's authorities test the recorders against a calibrated thermometer every year and carry out more detailed checks during the six-yearly ATP test. Current testing standards differ from country to country and can cause uncertainty, says Transfrigoroute.

The proposed test sets scan dards for accuracy, resolution, shock and vibration resistance. "It's a practical standard," says TI vice-president Graham Fox. "It will do the job and provide the information about what's been going on inside the trailer."

TI's technical management committee will review responses to the proposal at a meeting in Cesena, Italy, in two weeks time.
